Summer 2021 Research Papers

  • The Black healing Centre’s intention is to create a space that is grounded in Black healing, Black Joy and Black liberation.

To ensure that the needs of everyone in our community are upheld, the Black Healing Centre’s team conducted research over the summer of 2021 to answer a few questions such as :

    • What are safer spaces?

    • Are safer spaces for people who have been historically marginalized, specifically Black people needed in our communities?

    • And if so, why are they needed?

    • What are the psychological, emotional, economical and social benefits of having, and or intentionally creating these spaces?

    • What are the main barriers to accessing mental health care for the Black community in Montreal

    • What is the historical and current mental health state of Quebec and Canada’s Black community?

All our research was presented at an exhibition in August. They are now available for reading below.

A massive thank you to QPRIG McGill for making this research possible.
