YOU DESERVE TO BE WELL!

The Black Wellness Summit is a two-day event organized by the Black Healing Centre during the month of February (Black History Month).The goal of the Black Wellness Summit is to encourage a deeper social commitment to addressing the profound and systemic harms of anti-Black racism on the mental health of Black Canadians. The Black Wellness Summit will provide an intergenerational space for members of Montreal’s Black community to connect, recharge, and rest, while attending culturally relevant and afro-positive mental health programming.

  • WHERE: 6282 Rue St-Hubert, Montréal, QC H2V 2G3

  • WHEN: Saturday February 18th & Sunday, February 19th, 2023.

  • COST: This is a donation based event we recommend $15 per summit day, however no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  1. The summit is open to participants who identify as Black.

  2. Registration is necessary for each summit day AND each summit event for all of the participants (limited capacity is available).

  3. Articule is located on the ground floor of a commercial building. For more information on the accessibility of the space click here.

  4. Masks are required and can be removed when eating and/or doing movement-based workshops due to the ongoing pandemic.

  5. Negative COVID-19 test prior to attending is strongly recommended. The pandemic is still impacting our communities so please be mindful when entering our space.

DAY 1 PROGRAMMING

10:30AM to 12PM | Intergeneration Yoga: A restorative yoga session facilitated by certified yoga teacher, Kesha Foster.

1PM to 3PM | Black Men Sound Bath & Conversation Circle: A sound bath and conversation circle for Black men facilitated by community builder, Fimo Mitchell & modern CEO, Harry Julmice.

4PM to 5:30PM | Healthy Communication & Navigating Conflict: A workshop about healthy communication & navigating conflict management facilitated by psychosocial worker, Philippe Koffi.

7PM to 9PM | Black Healers Mingle: A community mingle event for Black Mental Health Practitioners & friends catered by Food N’ Ting.

DAY 2 PROGRAMMING

10:30AM - 12PM | Black Femmes Meditation Circle: A guided meditation session followed by a conversation circle facilitated by mindfulness facilitator Joanne Chevalier. *This event will be facilitated in French*

1PM - 3PM | Panel Discussion on Community Care as Self-Care: A panel about the importance of self-care and community care moderated by Daniel-Jocelyn Otou. Speakers information to come.

4PM - 5:30PM | Black Youths Art Circle: An art workshop for Black youths between the ages of 15 - 19 facilitated by multidisciplinary artist, Kezna Dalz.

7PM - 9PM | Community Dinner: A dinner open to all the members of the Black community of Tio'tia:ke (Montreal) to enjoy food catered by Lakou Kaii.
